Our origin

From Navarrete to the world

Areíto is the US extension of a cultural movement born in Navarrete, Santiago, Dominican Republic, where theatre has been part of the community fabric for generations.

Formally incorporated as a US nonprofit (501(c)(3) in process), Areíto exists so that Dominicans of the diaspora — and their children born here — have a space where they can recognize themselves on stage, train artistically, and share their identity with neighbors from all cultures.

We work in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic and with artists and institutions on both sides of the Mona Passage.
